I will be presenting seminars for the Bureau of Education and Research (www.ber.org) starting in December. BER is the leading provider of professional development and PD training resources for educators in North America. You have undoubtedly seen their maroon colored brochures for other excellent seminars in your school mail box over the years.
Learn the best strategies that work for sustainable comprehensible-input based world language teaching in these comprehensive one-day seminars that are planned across the USA this upcoming school year. Read the seminar brochure here.
Attendees at the seminars I did in the spring said:
“I loved, loved, loved getting so many practical techniques I can use tomorrow in my class. I especially learned a lot about how to connect with students using the target language.”
“I can’t believe how FAST this day went. I’ve never left any seminar feeling like I could use a few more hours. I enjoyed watching Señor Hedstrom’s videos of how he facilitates these learning opportunities.”
“This was the most engaging, interesting and relatable seminar I have attended.”
A unique 170 page book that I wrote just for seminar attendees will be distributed to all participants. Here are the dates and locations for December:
12/10/18 (Monday) Sacramento, CA
12/11/18 (Tuesday) San Jose, CA
12/12/18 (Wednesday) San Diego, CA
12/13/18 (Thursday) Ontario, CA

Hope to see you there!
Hola Mr. Hedstrom,
Is there any way to purchase the handbook Best, Most Powerful Strategies for Teaching World Languages (Grades 6-12) without attending the conference?
I ask because it looks like you are not presenting near my state (MI). I attended your classroom management workshop at CI in the Mitten and have implemented many strategies from you already in my classroom this first week: class jobs; dismissal routine; nonverbal signals for “I don’t understand” and “slow down”; and the partner map. I feel like this is already working wonders! I think year 2 is going to go WAY better than year 1!
Thanks so much for all you do to help teachers improve themselves!
That book is published by BER and is only available to workshop attendees. Much of the material in it is scattered across my blog entries over the last few years. You will find help by looking in the categories and scanning some blog posts.
I am maniacal about helping teachers to improve because my first years of teaching were rough. I wasn’t having much success and I had little support. I found help and have been determined to help my colleagues ever since. Now that I have the opportunity I am fulfilling that dream.
