Another school year is almost here. Starting off the new school year is a new beginning with new opportunities… and it’s always exciting!

I was driving a backroad in northern Colorado the other day and came upon this scene. A forest fire had swept through this hillside a few years ago and burnt this majestic old pine tree. It’s sad, but all is not lost. The hill is not barren. A new forest, this one an aspen forest, is growing up around the old tree.

It reminded me of the upcoming school year. Traces of prior years remain, but there is new life. There are new opportunities. Like the new colors, smells, textures, wildlife, and sounds of the emerging aspen forest, there will be a different feel in the midst of the old.

Starting off the new school year is a time to learn and grow. It’s a  time to meet new students and new colleagues. It’s always exciting and I’m looking forward to it!

This school year I will continue to tutor adults in Spanish, consult with school districts, coach teachers, and teach Latin part time.

Let me know what you’re up to this school year from time to time.
